It is not easy to start your own business. While it is a great way to invest your money, it involves long hours of work and effort. Besides drawing up a good business model, you have to raise funds, hire employees, and build a good marketing campaign for your business. All this hard work calls for a party when you finally open your business! Here are some tips on how to throw a grand opening for your new learning center.
Select a Type of Event and Set a Budget
A grand opening for your business can be an excellent way for potential clients to gain awareness of your services. This does not mean that you have to pull out all the stops and spend ridiculous amounts of money to hold a grand opening. In fact, it will be better if you develop a budget before opening your learning center.
This event could be an open house to showcase the benefits of JEI Learning Center® pedagogy or even a small ceremony with food and refreshments. Consider who you want to invite to such an event. We suggest inviting parents and their children in the surrounding area to attend your event. Do provide business cards and fliers so the attendees have a way to contact your business should they want to try your services.
Set a budget for all the expenses for your event and record the amount spent. Do try to make sure that your total cost fits into your budget. After putting everything into consideration, you will know whether you have to scale down the event or not.
Give Yourself Plenty of Time
Provide yourself with adequate time to plan and facilitate certain aspects of your event. We suggest starting at least 2-3 months ahead to print and mail invitations. Having this additional time gives your patrons plenty of notice.
Set deadlines and responsibilities for your employees in relation to the event. Create a checklist so that certain tasks are not overlooked. Do remind your employees about the purpose of the event so that they can carry out the appropriate actions during the event.
Work with the Media and Influencers to Generate Publicity
Besides targeting parents and their children, your grand opening should target the media as well. They can be an excellent platform to gain free publicity. A month before the event, contact your local media company by phone or by mailing out a press release. Articles about your business on the newspaper or their website can bring lots of publicity.
It is vital to create press kits for the media company coming to your event. Such press kits do not have to be complicated and can contain the following: fact sheet about your learning center (such as the subjects offered, the teachers at your center, JEI pedagogy, etc.), frequently asked questions, your press release and a business card.
